So what's the story behind this delicious treat?

The Creamsicle frozen dessert has been around for many years and is enjoyedCreamsicle year round. According to Popsicle's website, it all started in 1905 when "11-year-old Frank Epperson left a mixture of powdered soda, water, and a stirring stick in a cup on his porch. It was cold that night and when Epperson woke up the next morning, he found a frozen pop which he called 'Epsicle.'" As he grew older with a family of his own, his kids were always begging their "Pop" for his "sicle" and 18 years later, Epperson copyrighted the now-famous name.

The classic Creamsicle flavor combination is orange and vanilla, although many other types are now available!

Looking for a fun activity with the kids? Make your own! Mix together fruit juice and vanilla ice cream in a large bowl. Then, gradually add milk and continue to mix. Pour the mixture into small paper cups and place them in the freezer. Once they are partially frozen, insert Popsicle sticks into them and place back into the freezer until they are fully frozen. Peel off the paper cups and enjoy!
